December 2014 Report
An intense pump price battle between supermarkets and some independent retailers has produced the third biggest monthly fall in the price of petrol during the past 25 years. Average petrol prices are back to levels last seen in the autumn of 2010.
Unleaded prices are down 6.6p from 122.9 ppl to 116.3 ppl. Diesel prices have fallen 5.2p from 127.4 ppl to 122.2 ppl. The price difference between unleaded and diesel has increased to 5.9 ppl.
East Anglia has recorded the highest price for unleaded at 117.1 ppl. The South West has recorded the lowest price for unleaded at 116.1 ppl. Scotland has recorded the highest diesel price at 122.7 ppl. Northern Ireland has the cheapest diesel at 121.8 ppl.
Supermarket prices for unleaded have fallen to 114.2 ppl. The gap between supermarket prices and the UK average for unleaded has grown to 2.1 ppl.
