We wrap up The CV Show 2016 with a blog on what happened at the show

The sprawling venue of Birmingham’s NEC Arena played host to the UK’s largest and most comprehensive road transport and logistics event last week – The Commercial Vehicle Show.

As the UK’s No.1 vehicle payment solutions providers, Allstar & Keyfuels combined to attend the show as one of over 460 other exhibitors over the 3 day event.

With various themes running throughout the show every year, safety and technology collided at this year’s event to leave a lasting impression on us.

Keeping an eye on the road

The increased importance to a business of providing its employees with safer working environments combined with ever-improving technological capabilities means there has never been a better time to focus efforts on improving safety and becoming fully compliant with UK regulations.

A recently agreed change in legislation will mean that as of 2017, trucks will be able to replace their rear-view mirror with a camera – something Aspoeck had in mind when previewing its latest camera systems at this year’s show. With a 360 view of every happening outside of the truck, this latest development will enable drivers to assess clearances and hazardous situations more effectively than with any other product currently on the market.

Across the hall, the team at Silent Witness were also showcasing their latest innovative dashboard camera, the SW2200. Whereas current dash-cams in the industry do not always fully support insurance claims due to the possibility of tampering with the footage, the SW2200 is the first password-protected camera, ensuring only the person with the software and password has access to that all-important footage.

Driving businesses forward

“Safety” in the commercial vehicle sector takes on a number of facets, from cameras and sensors to vehicle servicing and maintenance.

We arrived at The CV Show to support the message of safety and compliance, but also to provide fuel management solutions via our convenient and cost saving fuel cards and many additional services. Our recently launched Allstar ServicePoint provides a wide array of benefits to our customers, ultimately supporting them in becoming compliant with the UK’s highway regulations.

From providing reminders for a fleets’ individual servicing dates, tax and insurance renewals and MOT’s, Allstar ServicePoint is the revolutionary way to manage business vehicles – not only offering a significant cost saving on labour rates and parts, but also ensuring drivers and businesses alike will never fall foul of UK law.

A brighter future

When it comes to the commercial vehicle industry, compliance is paramount. As The CV Show was winding down for 2016, a hugely important announcement was made regarding one of the industry’s long-standing firms.

Tachodisc Limited, the specialists in compliance of tachograph rules and laws, has been acquired by the Freight Transport Association – another big player over the 3 days at Birmingham’s NEC. Recognised as the voice of UK freight and logistics, the FTA has acquired Tachodisc Limited from administration, ensuring the industry remains safe and compliant.
